Since 1994, the Coalition for Far Northwest Alberta Brighter Futures Society has been dedicated to serving families in Fort Vermilion and La Crete. We offer interactive parent-child activities, peer support, and parenting education for families with children aged 0-6.
As a registered charity, we are proud to be funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada as a member of the CAPC-CPNP Coalition (Community Action Program for Children and Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program). Additionally, through funding from Alberta Advanced Education and Community Adult Learning Program (CALP), we provide vital foundational learning opportunities for adults in the region. We are also proud to incorporate Fort Vermilion Support Services (FVSS) under our umbrella to further serve our community.News. Upcoming Events

Every child deserves the best start in life. We understand that some families need additional support to nurture their children's growth, health, and well-being, and we are here to provide the resources and education necessary to help you and your family thrive.
Activities you can work on together
Our Head Start programs support parents/caregivers and families with children ages 0–6 as they grow, learn, and thrive. Every child develops at their own pace, and sometimes families may have questions or concerns about speech, development, behaviour, stress, or opportunities for play and learning.
Our programs give parents practical support through programs like Time for Tots, Bright Beginnings, parent nights, and other events. Our staff work alongside you to understand your child’s needs, build on their strengths, and share information and resources to help give your child the best possible start.
We know that every family’s situation is different, and there is no judgment. Our programs are to support you and your child. If your family needs support that we cannot provide, we can connect you with other trusted community agencies and services.
Most importantly, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. We are here to partner with you, answer questions, and help you feel confident in supporting your child’s development from birth to age 6.
