“Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning.”
-Diane Ackerman
We deliver Head Start programs to children and parenting support to parents and caregivers. It is essential that children at a young age benefit from a fostering, supportive environment. In Head Start, children learn how to make friends, play together, and have an opportunity to meet their developmental needs. Children can be children in our programs: they play, make crafts, sing songs and have snack together with other children.
Activities you can work on together
Sometimes young children face challenges that can be met through Head Start: there can be speech delays, or developmental delays. Due to family circumstances children may be stressed which impedes their ability to learn, or there may not be many opportunities to play. Head Start can help families out. Through home visits and parent nights, our staff members assist parents in parenting, in addressing a child's needs and provide the family with information on the best start for their child. If there are circumstances where we cannot help a family out, we will refer to other agencies as we partner with other agencies in your community. We are not judgmental: we do not mind what you house looks like, all we want to do is help you out for the best development of your children. Home visits are an important element in supporting you in your parenting.
